PROJECTS

“Perspective” (2024)

A landmark solo exhibition in Sofia, Perspective explored the conceptual relationship between permanence and decay. Using unconventional materials such as ash and soot, Valkov constructed visual metaphors of time, absence, and renewal.

"These works invite the viewer to move beyond aesthetic comfort into a space of contemplation."

“Fragments of Silence” (Ongoing Series)

This ongoing body of work revolves around large-format canvases that merge abstract landscapes with architectural impressions. Through muted tones and minimal gesture, Valkov creates meditative environments that feel both ancient and immediate.

Residency: Andalusia, Spain (2021)

During his stay in southern Spain, Valkov engaged with the legacy of modernists like Dalí and Picasso while cultivating a unique visual language rooted in Andalusian light and texture. This period was crucial in his shift toward elemental materials and site-specific influence.

“Between the Lines” (2020)

A drawing-focused project that investigates the emotional impact of line and absence. The series reduces form to its essence, relying on minimal intervention and allowing the viewer to project meaning through empty space.

Upcoming: “Ashes & Echoes” (2025)

Currently in development, this project explores the transformation of memory into material. Working with charred wood, reclaimed surfaces, and layered drawing techniques, Valkov examines how personal loss and cultural history imprint themselves on the physical world.

Collaborations & Commissions

Valkov regularly collaborates with curators, collectors, and galleries on site-specific installations and commissioned pieces. Each project is an opportunity to push the boundaries of medium, space, and concept.
